TECH EX 01
In this technical exercise, we refreshed our understanding of basic edits and learned how to navigate tools and effects in Premiere Pro. Sara provided a video tutorial that we followed, which covered removing clips, using the ripple edit tool to cut and shift the rest of the track, and adding transitions. As a bonus, we also learned how to create our own transitions using the color matte “new item” feature and applying a dissolve effect to either side. This custom transition is an excellent way to incorporate your own color palette into your edits.
Who knew I could fly! Check out my Green Screen Experimental Video! I am learning how the video magic works!
TECH EX 02
In this exercise, we learned how to edit a greenscreen video utilizing the effects panel and effects controls. specifically how to tidy up and play around with different settings and effects within the ultra key effect controls to remove green blur and green hue. we also did a horizontal flip to align the lighting better.
Greenscreen Mini Project
This project was a fun one, and I can confidently say I learned a lot through a few small mistakes along the way. The concept explored daydreaming using greenscreen effects. I filmed only my eyes and forehead to create the feeling of a window into my brain. Overall, the project was successful, and I gained experience with colour correction while using masks and keyframing movement so the window and masking stayed aligned. If I were to redo this assignment, I would avoid filming in any space where the green screen could reflect, since fixing those reflections took up most of my time. I would also use a tripod to prevent camera movement, which caused the window frame to shift and required me to adjust the mask frame by frame. I incorporated cute, royalty-free cartoons and used their audio, which added a unique and original touch to the final piece.
My initial intention was to lean into and reflect my new lifestyle following a traumatic brain injury. I wanted to highlight how I now lose focus more easily, while also embracing the unexpected perk of occasionally being a bit absent-minded. The piece explores that space between distraction and imagination, framing daydreaming not just as a challenge, but also as a creative and reflective state
TECH EX 3 SOUND EDITING BASICS
In this tech exercise we reviewed some core audio editing basics in Premiere Pro. I’ve worked with this audio before, but these edits were definitely more detailed than I remembered. The keyframing and removing unwanted sounds felt pretty straightforward, while experimenting with reverb and organizing clips was newer to me and helped expand my skills.
